I don't really feel like he should be prosecuted. He was stupid, but not necessarily criminal. It's unfortunate that he didn't get her some help sooner, but she kept telling him she would come out for sure tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, the guy is clearly dumber than a sack of diapers, but I don't think he meant for anything awful to happen. In the other versions of this I read, he did seem to be trying hard to get her to come out of there, and did try to take care of her amidst her weird phobia. *shrug* It’s definitely a sad story.
